The Lincoln Police Department presently consists of approximately 500 total employees. Out of these positions, 350 are sworn police officers and 150 are held by civilians. Lateral Certified Police Officer

Certified Police Officer starting pay $32.84-46.41

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be a high school graduate or have equivalent G.E.D.; must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age at the time appointment to a Police Officer; must meet such physical requirements, including minimum vision requirements, as established by the City; and have no felony convictions.

Police Trainee starting pay $32.84

Public Safety Dispatcher

Public Safety Dispatcher – $22.25 – $28.41 hourly

Senior Public Safety Dispatcher – $25.80 – 32.95 hourly

The Public Safety Dispatcher is considered the first, first responder of the emergency response team. These professionals, are required to gather essential information from citizens, and take control of situations that may be chaotic, tragic, stressful, confusing, and frantic in order to dispatch the appropriate first responders to the scene. Public Safety Dispatchers must be organized, adept at multi-tasking, level-headed, calm and trustworthy. Their work within the emergency response system often places them at the front end of life or death situations. Training requirements for these positions are demanding, rigorous and steadfast.

New employees will be required to successfully complete a classroom training academy and extensive on-the-job training. Career advancement opportunities include promotion to Senior Public Safety Dispatcher, Certified Training Officer, Training Supervisor, and Public Safety Dispatch Supervisor.

Qualifications

High School graduate or G.E.D.

Necessary Special Requirements:
Emergency Medical Dispatch certification and CPR certification, provided by Lincoln Police Department, is required prior to the completion of the probationary period.

Certification on the National Crime Information Center computer system, which is provided by Lincoln Police Department.

NO FELONY CONVICTIONS OR SERIOUS MISDEMEANORS.

Testing will be conducted at a to be determined time. (You  may only test ONE TIME during the recruitment period).

All testing will be held at the Lincoln Police Department’s Northeast Police Station, 5201 R Street, Lincoln, NE 68508
